It's no secret my favourite projects are quick and achievable ones. I look longingly at the divine applique quilts Jan and Sue-Anne make but with no desire to start one myself. Before starting anything, I like to know the odds are good for finishing it!

I love a project you can cut out after dinner, stitch that night and if need be, put the finishing touches on the next day.

Meanwhile, I'm very lucky to have friends who make those gorgeous applique quilts so I can ooh and aah over the fabrics and dream that maybe one day.......

From Me to You club

The first classes were held at Avonleigh last week. It was lovely to see so many familiar and new faces.

The first pattern, Notepads - For You & Me, is for three Notepad covers. They are practical and pretty gifts for just about everyone, regardless of their age and whether they sew or not!

 

I'm never sure who is more excited, the girls who finish theirs in class or me.

The covers Julie, Heather, Vanessa, Lee, Robyn, Jenny and Gabi made at the evening class. It was the first time either Lee or Gabi had gone home with a finished item.

The covers Sharon, Glynis, Marion, Sue, Miranda and Belinda made Saturday morning.

From Me to You club

For the past few weeks it feels like I've been working on nothing else but this years club - From Me to You. 

It's all about beautiful simple items to make for gifts. The types you won’t have to work at all day, that can be completed in a few hours and before you know it, one becomes two and you’re on your way to having a little stash of gifts tucked away in the cupboard. Secretly I'm hoping to make one or two for myself and a few spares.

Happy New Year!

It's a new year and a leap year! An extra day to start and finish things. I'm excited, and have been busy planning what I might do with a bonus day  - I don't want to waste it.

This year I broke with tradition and my first project was not a new journal cover.  I know, it was a bit of a shock to me too. It is the first time in years that I haven't sat down on the 1st January and made one. 

All I wanted to make was this notepad cover. I couldn't concentrate on anything else until I finished putting it together.

It is one of the three covers from the first pattern in this years club From Me to You. The club starts in February and I'll be posting details shortly.

I was very tempted to repeat this on the 2012 journal cover but felt it was too similar to last years.  Afterall it's a new year and it needs to be embraced with a new look.

So I went with a little bit of whimsy.

 Have a wonderful 2012 and make the most of that extra day!

a little stitching

It's official, I am hooked on the Aurifil threads I bought a few weeks ago. They're so lovely to stitch with I was tempted to purchase more colours. 

They arrived in time for Christmas and I eagerly anticipated stitching with them this week.

I have been stitching, but was captivated with the red. Funny about that!

These sweet little stitcheries are one of the projects from my club in 2012  -  'From Me to You'.
