Thank you to all those who came to the trunk show at The Material Girls on Sunday. I had a great time meeting so many enthusiastic girls and came away quite inspired.

Jugiong Quilt and Craft Show

This coming weekend, 14 & 15 August, the Jugiong Quilt and Craft Show is on. I'll be there on the Saturday with my samples and things to tempt. Would love to see you there.

 
 A lovely bundle of fabric Kay and Sharon, from Avonleigh, gave me at the completion of the Christmas workshop a few weeks ago (doesn't time pass quickly).

I should have some pictures of the the 4th Red Club classes to show but I forgot my camera both times. But if you go here and here you can find some pictures of the Capital T the girls attending Club Rouge at The Patchwork Apple have made.

my trip - Jennifer Meek Giftware

This time last week I was at Jennifer Meek Giftware, Nhill, Victoria.

There were were lots of lovely things to look at.

I'm sure you know why I loved this display. I did resist, but gave into tempation with an entirely different red purchase.

a first birthday

 Avonleigh celebrated its first birthday yesterday. There were lots of great specials and demonstrations to tempt.

Kay and Sharon set aside an area for a display of my samples.

I'm sure everyone who dropped by went home brimming with ideas and a shopping bag or two.

I've been working on the pattern for the first Red Club project, Stars & Pinwheels. I made the first quilt last year and decided to make another to check the pattern. 

This ones in my other favourite colour combination red, white and blue.

Patches of Heaven - 10th Birthday

Commencing this Friday, 30 November, Patches of Heaven in Temora is celebrating their 10th Birthday. To kick the celebrations off there will be a quilt display Friday, Saturday & Sunday. You'll be able to wander through the B&B accomodation and teaching room to view the quilts. Helen's told me there will be 'wickedly decadent dessert' available on Friday. And there will be SALE!

I made these today to help Helen celebrate. Love them in the pretties.  I wasn't sure what colour ribbon to use on the pink gift. I found a rather ugly striped print and fussy cut it. Just can't believe how good it looks. It's a GIrl Thing tag looks wonderful tied to the present.

I'll be there on Friday with my display. Would love to see you there.

Veronica Violet Stitcheries

Well I have been very busy over the past few days, but haven't managed to cross much of my to do list at all. In fact I wrote a new one this morning. Wasn't game to write due dates against any of the items since most of it is due within the next week.

Yesterday, I was teaching a punch needle class at Veronica Violet Stitcheries. Carolyn has just got her website up and running so grab a cuppa and take a visit. I love teaching and don't mind repeating myself as many times as it takes. Which is really lucky because the girls yesterday were enjoying themselves too much to pay any attention to a thing I was saying.

I couldn't leave without looking at the fabric.  Carolyn has some beautiful fabrics, and limiting my selection to just a couple was difficult (though I did buy 1/2 a metre of each), but I have Christmas on my mind and its RED!

After watching the girls start their punch needle projects I was all inspired to come home and make a start on the project for the Memory Lane workshop in November. (Yes, if you were were wondering this is one of the items on the to do list.) I've been thinking about it for quite some time and finally got pen to paper this morning .

I started punching it late this afternoon. The leaves still need to be filled in and the shape of the flowers will become more defined once they are outlined and the background filled in. So if you've started a project and been a little disappointed, keep going. It's really important to make sure you outline shapes. The flower centres are outlined with a row of the red to give them a nice circular shape. Next I worked the flower outline and then I filled in. Here's hoping I can have it finished sometime tomorrow so I can  cross something of the to do list.

Uninvited visitors

Today we went for a drive to Beechworth. I can't go to Beechworth and not visit Beechworth Quilters Cottage. Lots of lovely fabric, trims and quilts to look at. It was lovely to catch up with Yelena and find out she also has a blog.

We were going to go for a walk as soon as we got home but had some uninvited visitors turn up.

No idea where they came from but they did lead the two rangers, who were trying to catch them, on a not so merry chase amongst the shrub roses in our front garden.

Patches of Heaven

Last Friday, Jan, Sue-Anne and I visited Patches of Heaven at Temora, located in the South West (Riverina) area of NSW. It's a lovely shop, well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive from Albury, and Helen made us feel most welcome. I saw this block in an antique quilt. This got me to thinking about a new quilt for Christmas. The Roman Holiday range had just arrived in store and being red and white.......that's when I realised the block and fabric would make the perfect quilt for a Christmas display I have in mind.

Recently, I've seen two quilts with the backs pieced. Both looked wonderful and I was inspired to piece the back for a quilt top finished months ago. The most satisfying thing is that I used up all the pieces left over from the quilt top and quite a few other pieces that were never going to find there way into projects. Now I can purchase some new fabric guilt free!
