First let me wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope your year started with needle and thread close to hand.
This year I broke with tradition; no new cover for my diary (yet), instead a makeover of the family room.
Now before you start thinking freshly painted walls, new furniture etc, it’s a far simpler and modest makeover. It revolves around the blanket box and what’s on top of the box.
A new little quilt and recovered rag balls. I was determined to finish them before returning to work and spent Sunday evening unwrapping and then rewrapping the balls finishing at the same time Nishikori won the men's final of the Brisbane International. It took me longer than the mens & womens final combined.
This makeover is something I should have done a while ago. It's just I still loved the old quilt with the bowl of balls and failed to notice they were looking a bit shabby, and not in a good way.
When I began unwrapping them I was surprised to see how faded they'd become.
The new quilt.
The block is called Counterchange Cross.
This wasn't the only sewing I did. I'll post about it another time!
