merry christmas & happy new year

I love this time of year, not the hectic, mad rush leading up to Christmas Day, but what comes after, the break between Christmas & New Year. For me everything stops and it's a time when I choose to do as much or as a little as I please. Already, I'm eagerly anticipating the possibilities of what I may or may not do.

I'm already starting to wind down, just when I need to keep the momentum going long enough to turn these fabrics into gifts.

 

 

The fabrics are ironed, one is cut out; I'm focussing on what's been done, not what's left to do!

It was crunch time on the weekend. Today was the deadline for the Post Office. The gifts are going to out of the way places and I wanted to give Australia Post a realistic chance of delivering them before Christmas.  

It seems every Christmas I potter around in my box of Theodora Cleave buttons and before I know it I’m stitching away. This is exactly what happened on the weekend.

 

 

I had a lot of fun. More time consuming than I would have liked because each one was individually designed for the buttons on hand.

 

Summer has finally arrived and its hot here, even hotter tomorrow, 42 deg. Celsius, so you can understand why Santa decided to don his shorts!

 

 

It feels great to tick one box off, now I need to focus on the gifts that will be hand delivered.

remake of a favourite

Gorgeous new fabrics have arrived  and the urge to cut, sew and stitch with them is interfering with my Christmas preparations. There’s still three weeks to go – so no need to panic just yet!  

I started with the paisley print from the previous post, it's my favourite fabric for now and it didn't take long before I'd picked out fifteen more to make a total of sixteen.

 

It took even less time to cut the blocks for Coconut Ice.

 

And before tea time I had the top sewn.

Coconut Ice measures 44 x 48 inches.
