There was a long list of things I'd hoped to achieve by Christmas, one was new pillows and cushions for what I like to think of as the blue room! This didn't happen but I've managed to make one and start another this week. These designs will be released as part of The Cushion Club for 2015.

I went to the personal stash for this one and used some treasures. There are a couple of fabrics that must be 10 years old. Everything looks better with a splash of red.

 

 

This one started off being blue but think it might be more red now. What do you think?

It still needs a few rows of hand quilting and a back.

Have a Happy New Year

Finally I have realised why things become hectic this time of the year. It's not the Christmas shopping, decorating, makings gifts or extra baking, no it's my decision to cram in all the things I thought I might have liked to do over the past 12 months into the week before Christmas.

Like last Sunday going to the markets to look for tea cups to pot succulents in.

 

 

And deciding yesterday to make new hand towels for the kitchen plus extras as gifts for my girls.

 

 

So keeping with the theme of thinking I can fit everything in, the decison was made to start a new quilt. I'd convinced myself I would break with tradition and not make a red & white quilt this year but changed my mind late last night. Choosing the block was easy. The drunkards path block is my favourite. Minimal cutting and few seams. Just what I need Christmas Eve.

 

 

Before you start thinking, wow it's almost finished, what you see is what is made. I'm happy as the basics have been worked out, now it's just a matter of cutting and sewing.

Now if I can just get the presents wrapped, the baking and house work done there may be time to make more blocks - sounds a little too optimistic even for me!

something tells me

Everyone needs a standby project; something to pick up and work on when there is simply nothing else prepared for hand-sewing.  Yo-yos are my thing. They were started with nothing in mind other than having something to do. The first fabrics I grabbed were my reds and that's the colour I've stuck with. I still love the idea of having a collection of red & white quilts and think a Yo-yo quilt will fit in beautifully.

As you know I make a new red & white quilt each year. Something tells me this quilt won't be finished in time for this Christmas or the next or even the one after that. My deadline is Christmas 2019 – yes that’s right 2019. This is a long term project and besides, I only get to work on it when there is nothing else to do and that rarely happens.

You know I love red and white all year round so it only just occurred to me how perfect Autumn Blush in this colour way would be for the festive season.

It's simple to make taking about 3-4 hours.

seventeen more sleeps

I knew it was December but it still did not register Christmas was not too far away! It is always celebrated on the 25th, the date never changes so why oh why do I get caught out each year.

The decorations are up, now to focus on the gifts. I know what to make, I just have to do it!

Fingers crossed I stay on track between now and Christmas day.

Doll, Bear & Hobby Show weekend

This is the first time I've ever done a show in my home town of Albury. It was so nice not to travel for a change. There was no need to double check lists to make sure everything was packed since I could pop home for it!

 

 

 

I meet lots of wonderful people on the weekend and even managed to squeeze in a bit of sewing.
