This is when my enthusiasm starts to wane. Most of the blocks are made - the fun part is over and now it's time to think about the layout and sewing it all together. At this point I can visualise a finished quilt draped over the bed, but there is still a long way to go.
To make sure this doesn't become another UFO I have cut out all the blocks but one. The plan is to sew one or two together each night.
While I'm doing this I'm thinking about the layout. Originally the plan was for an alternate block but I was so carried away playing with my fabrics, I've made enough blocks to do the top and back if I go with this option. This would mean selecting only my favourite blocks for the top but how to choose when they're all favourites!
It will have to be sashed. Sashings make sewing easy, there are no seams to match but finding just the right fabric can be tricky. I toyed with the idea of scrappy sashings but am leaning towards this print.
I guess the next question will be 'How wide do I cut the sashings?'
Fingers crossed I can finish the blocks, cut the sashings and sew it together before my enthusiasm is completely gone and a new project tempts me.
