so what to do

This year's red & white quilt was started a few weeks ago. I was so excited and quickly made these blocks. At this rate I'd have the top finished in next to no time!

And then nothing. I'm not sure what happened, I simply stopped. Whatever it was it killed the spark and I haven't been able to rekindle it. 

So what to do. Well start a new project of course!

It was going to be half red half pink, but looks like it will be more pink. There's one rule - the fabrics must be from my stash. I've found scraps of old favourites, made some discoveries and reacquainted myself with others. Fabrics I have been 'saving' will go into this quilt. It's going to be a lovely mix of old and new fabrics and provides the perfect opportunity to reduce my stash.

must be spring.......

It must be spring, the days are warmer and my enthusiasm for gardening has returned. There's an awful lot to do. Today I decided to forget about all the weeding and pruning and visit a nursery. It was a quick visit but I still managed to come home with these new plants.

The parsley, mint and lettuce will go into pots at the back door where I can't forget them (fingers crossed). The succulents will be mixed in with other potted succulents. There was a time when I  avoided low maintenance plants, now they're the first ones I look at.

 

Christmas Workshop - Stawell Craft Shop

Teaching is a joy when you have a lovely group of girls, happy to chat, stitch and try new techniques.

Most decided to make a start on the Christmas bunting and try the felt applique in the afternoon. It was a lovely relaxed and informal gathering and thanks must go to Mandy and Cheryl from Stawell Craft Shop for organising the day.

Morhpett Vale Fresh Bakery

My first stop on the trip to Stawell was Adelaide. This is a very roundabout way to travel to Stawell given it is roughly half way between home and Adelaide, but I'd decided at the last minute to take the opportunity to visit my brother and his family. Naturally I was keen to check out their new bakery at Morphett Vale, as they've only recently moved there from Old Reynella Town.

I'd love to live closer but it's much better for my waistline that I don't. As it is I sampled way too many yummy things.The decision to choose what to try was as difficult as picking fabric for a quilt! Mini chocolate mud cakes, gingerbread men, quiches (family & mini), donuts, blueberry custard tarts, banana caramel tarts, florentines and potato topped pies and pies with tempting fillings....

a last minute gift

August is the last month of the year for birthdays. While I get a great deal of enjoyment out of making gifts, its nice to have a few months off.

The last birthday was for a non-sewing friend. One of the gifts had been made months ago, when I was working on the Notepads - For You & Me pattern. But it needed something extra. There had been months to make it, but in my true style there I was early that morning, with only an hour to spare, making the extra thing!

Stawell Craft Shop - trunk show & workshop

Back in January, Mandy booked me in for Christmas workshop and trunk show. At the time, September was months away, there was plenty of time to get ready. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is constantly surprised at how quickly this year is slipping by. The trunk show and Christmas workshop are on next week.

The trunk show is Tuesday evening. Not sure what a trunk show is? I arrive with a case full of my samples and you get to look, touch and ask questions. Always good fun.

The Christmas workshop is on Wednesday. The two projects are the new Christmas bunting - Must be Christmas and a Christmas bag & felt decorations - Joyful.

Some stitching, a little felt applique, it's sure to be a lovely day.

From Me to You - purses

One of the nice things about teaching is seeing the variety of fabrics the girls bring to class. The purses they made on Saturday are a good example of this.

So much fun coordinating fabric and buttons. They were all made in the 3 hour class with time to spare

The thing I love about the club is seeing the finished projects from the last class. It was nice to see Lyn's birdie bag, so pretty in the pinks & greens.
