It was straight from the sewing machine and has not been pressed!

Sue has finished hers too but I couldn't work out how to post the picture she emailed me. I know it's probably the simplest thing to do but.....
 

quilt and craft show

I had so much fun helping Barb, on her stand at the Quilt and Craft Show. There were lots of pieces I hadn't seen before and it was all so tempting, like these French peg dolls. Barb has a real knack for making the simple look exquisite!

 

Thank you to everyone who dropped by and said hello. It was so nice to finally meet Jean, catch up with Elyte and have afternoon tea with Linda, and the Friday Girls- Sue-Anne, Jan, Helen and Michelle.

new patterns and a giveaway

Here are the projects from the weekend workshop at Avonleigh. Sorry if red is not your colour, but it was Christmas!

The projects are Stitched Treasures - Hearts, Celebrating Christmas -  Table mat, All Things Nice - Felt needle cases and Cherry Cream Squares  -  quilt.

The girls could start one or all of the projects over the weekend. Each project involved different techniques so something new was learnt or as is sometimes the case, remembered. 

All the girls tried at least two projects, except for Bronwyn who was focussed on finishing the quilt top. She arrived with all her fabrics tucked neatly inside a small suitcase - it looked gorgeous and yes I should have taken a picture to share.

Now is the right time to start thinking about Christmas and to help you along the way I have a copy of each of these patterns to giveaway.  Simply leave a comment by 27 July to enter the draw.

Christmas weekend at Avonleigh

How come good things go so fast! The weekend at Avonleigh just whizzed past.

 
Some of the projects and girls at work (play). As usual the food was delicious - no pictures of that because tasting overrode any other thought. It was impossible to have only one piece of Kay's fruitcake and Sharon's slice. Sensible eating all this week! 

A big thank you to Kay and Sharon, for doing all the things they did to make the weekend so much fun, and to the girls, Sue, Rhonda, Lynne, Chris, Lee, Kim (all the way from Lakes Entrance), Betty, Heidi, Amanda, Belinda, Vanessa, Trudie, Bronwyn and Sue for their laughter and enthusiasm to try new things.

Kay was busy taking photos over the weekend, not sure if she's posted them yet but have a look here.

christmas at avonleigh

This must be a first for me but I think I'm all organised for the weekend. If I've forgotten anything its only a 5 minute trip home and then there is always Sunday.

 

I've been at Avonleigh this afternoon setting up a display of Christmas things. No these are not the projects the girls will be making - just in case you were thinking how can they possibly do all that!

 
It's fun to get the samples out try them here and there with this and that, a little bit like playing with fabric.

Sharon has been very busy this week putting together a little bit of temptation for the girls.

 
 I'm not sure how they will choose......

I'm glad it's not me having to make decisions tomorrow!
 

christmas projects

Only one more week to the Christmas workshop at Avonleigh. I'm happy to say I finished the 4th sample this week. There was a point when I wondered if I would get it done. It wasn't intentional but it coordinates beatifully with one of the other projects.

Now all I have to do is finish writing the pattern - not nearly as much fun as stitching and sewing, but you can't make it without the instructions.

It's lucky I love Christmas because you would be forgiven for thinking I might be a bit Christmassed out, what with Christmas club this week. A lot of fun playing with fabric combinations without doing any of the actual work.

Garden Gathering - Evandale

A ripple of laughter went around the plane when the pilot announced it was 4 deg in Launceston. No it wasn't early morning, rather mid afternoon so it was a little chilly , ok very very cold, almost freezing!

I braved the cold and took the short walk to the Evandale hall Saturday morning and was so glad I did. The Church steeple looked so picturesque.

 
Inside the hall it was just as pretty with garden themed bags. I'm glad I didn't have to decide which bag I preferred, they were all lovely.

 
Garden themed with a little bit of Christmas thrown in, one of my patterns in the goodies bag. Little felt needle cases perfect for any occassion. They were a lot of fun to make and very achievable, my favourite type of project. This pattern will be available mid July.

 
A simple sititchery, with the garden theme in mind. All designs are sized to fit standard sized frames making it simple to finish the pieces yourself.

Something for the girls to stitch on the day. Christine kitted this so it was ready to go.

You can find inspiration in many places but it was Lillie's work that impressed me the most. There with her Mum, Lillie decided to make a gift for a friend's birthday. Isn't it cute! I do hope you finished it in time.

Thank you to all the girls for making the day so enjoyable. It's so nice to be with those who share the same passion.

Just about packed for Evandale.

The suitcase is packed with the samples for the Evandale workshop and all I have to do now is squeeze a few clothes into the tiny space left and keep my fingers crossed the weight is OK. I've been checking out the weather all this week and it's warmer in Tassie than Albury! Not by much though.

Christmas club no. 3

I must admit just lately, I've felt a little confused about which club and number I'm supposed to be teaching, designing and writing a pattern for. Got to laugh because I don't think I'm the only one as a couple of girls forgot to turn up for last Saturday's Christmas club.

The project is called Sweet Harmony and is nice for displaying all year round - not just at Christmas time. It's always exciting to see the fabric choices and how a design is interpreted.
