the trip - Stawell Craft Shop

Stawell Craft Shop was the last stop of my trip. Somehow I missed out taking photos of the shop.There is lots of lovely giftware, scarves, fabric and knitting yarn to tempt. I'm looking forward to the next visit with more time.

Those making the bookmarks were very pleased to be going home with a completed or near completed project.

my trip - Jennifer Meek Giftware

This time last week I was at Jennifer Meek Giftware, Nhill, Victoria.

There were were lots of lovely things to look at.

I'm sure you know why I loved this display. I did resist, but gave into tempation with an entirely different red purchase.

A sample of the beautiful fabrics Jennifer stocks. And if these fabrics look familar, yes the girls at The Patchwork Apple used them for their journal covers.  
 

the trip - the patchwork apple

Autumn is such a lovely time of the year to go tripping around the countryside. The round trip was just a little over 2,100 kms so there were many hours spent in the car. The first day I dropped in on Barb and had a chance to look at her new range of sepia buttons and decorations. Lots of inspiration to be found there.

Then it was onto The Patchwork Apple, Woodside, South Australia - just a few of the things that caught my eye.

I find it very difficult to resist the reproduction fabrics and Jane has some gorgeous brights.

The journal covers the girls made. Look at all the wonderful variations,  and fabric choices, including a recipe cover.  

All finished or very close too! Not bad for an afternoon's work.(And there was still time for chatting and retail therapy.)

Kris made the bookmark and was very pleased to be going home with something finished.

I always have a great time at The Patchwork Apple, thank you to Jane and the girls for providing such a warm and enjoyable atmosphere once again.

  

red club

  As you can see I remembered the camera for Saturday's Red Club class at Avonleigh. They are all quite different even if they are red and white!

This is Heidi's quilt.

Sharon has started quilting hers.I can't wait to see this finished.

There are so many different reds and backgrounds to choose from. How fortunate to have all these gorgeous choices.

And this is Belinda's. Not happy with the background for the stars, Belinda used another for the pinwheels. How good does it look! The problem - the diamond print was not lining up with the diamonds in the half square triangles in the border. We all know how one little thing can bother us to the point where it could be the difference between finishing and having another UFO. Sometimes the best quilts occur by accident.

 The fussy cut hexagons the girls put together. I think they may all be a little hooked now. So much fun finding suitable prints, fussy cutting and then seeing how they come together. Reds again, yet all different.

the Adelaide trip - where I'll be...

This week I head to Adelaide and The Patchwork Apple for a trunk show and classes. This is my third visit to Jane's lovely shop and I always include it in my visit.  I'll be there Friday and Saturday (16 & 17). Please contact Jane for more details.  I think the classes are booked out but you could be lucky.

On Monday 19th I'm dropping in at Jennifer Meek Giftware, Nhill for an afternoon trunk show.  It's a lovely opportunity to see my samples and ask questions about techniques and see how to do glove stitch and make cord. The following day, Tuesday I'll be at Stawell Craft Shop, at Stawell (obviously) for a class and show. I'm not sure which order, but lots of fun to just go with the flow. I think the class is booked out but contact the shop for more details (03) 5358 4313.

This is what I'll be teaching. Pretty journal covers, bookmark and a key tag. Each item is very achievable and a perfect treat for yourself or gift.

   

a new pattern

I thought I'd remembered everything for the 2nd Red Club last night but as soon as Chris and Jenny pulled out their quilts from the first class, I thought camera. Both are lovely and I've asked if they can bring them to the next class in two months time. So there are no pictures of the beautifully fussy cut hexagons they were making either. There's another class this Saturday, so surely I can't forget twice! Though today, I filled in a form at the Post Office and stumbled over the question - sender's name! How bad is that. The ladies in the PO just laughed. So did I.

And I did get that birthday present made in time. I finished the bookmark in Tassie and wrapped and delivered it as soon as I arrived home.

Autumn and Easter

It was only this time last week I was in Tassie at the Quilted Crow - An Autumn Gathering. It seems ages ago rather than just a week. I hope that means I've managed to get twice as much done but somehow I don't think so. It was difficult to know what to look at first as Leonie and Deidre are so creative with their display. There were a couple of props I would have liked to squeeze into my suitcase.

I made a promise to myself, this Easter I would do a little gardening (should be lots) and make a dolls quilt or two...

 I couldn't resist the background fabric - Butter Churn and Cheddar. So excited that it's finished. It's not hand quilted, rather machine quilted  instead. Yes it is only small and it would have been nice to hand quilt it, but sometimes you have to choose between a quick finish or no finish at all. Now I can start a new project with a clear conscience!

But first I have to focus on finishing this one. It does have to be hand quilted by next Wednesday. Four days, plenty of time, perhaps....

There's a new block and fabric already picked out, gardening to do, a book to read, chocolate pudding to cook (and eat)... somehow it will all get done.
